The Sylvania Area Community Improvement Corporation (SCIC), with the assistance of contributing organizations and local individuals formed a committee to continue the study of the pros and cons of a merger of Sylvania Township and the City of Sylvania.

The results of this feasibility study will be presented to the community on February 7, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Sylvania Senior Center, 7140 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania, Ohio. A second meeting is scheduled for March 1st, 7:00 PM at the Senior Center (location to be confirmed).  Meeting will include a brief presentation of the UAC Study, an explanation of the steps in a merger process, and a Q&A period.

The study was conducted as a continuation of the Consolidation of Services Study the SCIC conducted in 2005. As part of this new feasibility study, the SCIC commissioned the University of Toledo Urban Affairs Center to “examine the financial impacts of a merger between the City of Sylvania and Sylvania Township”. The study was conducted under the direction of Dr. Hugh Hinton.
